Back from Leave

Some may have noticed that I have been away for almost the entire month of May. Two reasons for my leave of absence.

  1. My company required an incredible amount of my time for doing billable work. (I have to make a living)
  2. I wanted to re-think my strategies for blogging.

After the memorial day weekend, I was inspired to once again take up the pen for the cause of freedom. During my absence, I have decided to create an environment that would provide a free blogging environment for other conservatives in Kentucky .

Thus over the next month, I will be setting up RedStateKY.org as a multi-blogger web site that I will give free access to any interested in writing on the news. If you live in Kentucky and are interested in getting an account, send me an email at brians@schenkenfelder.com

Once set up, I'll be moving my blog over to it.

House Travel Scandal Turns Funny

On Drudge Report today there was an update on the House Travel scandal that has unfairly plagued House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

ROLL CALL reports: Although House Majority Leader Tom DeLay is by far the most high-profile lawmaker caught up in the scandal so far, to this point, more Democrats than Republicans have found themselves the subject of news reports outlining potential violations of House ethics rules for taking trips funded by registered lobbyists or lobbying firms.

It seems that a lot more Democrats are guilty of this violation than Republicans. But then I forgot that Democrats are better people. Fortunately, Nancy Pelosi reminded me of this simple fact.

But House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that Democrats cannot be considered in the same category as Republicans when it comes to ethics problems. Rep. Pelosi said, "It is not an issue of members of our Caucus having the same sort of a problem. Make no mistake - there is a drastic difference between the timing of reporting things and ethical behavior."

Since Democrats are better people, then everyone should assume that it was a simple timing mistake, but the evil Republicans can only be assumed to have maliciously breached the ethical standards of the House.

What a joke!

The funny thing about this scandal is the stupidity of the Democrats for falling into a classic political blunder. They accused the enemy of something they were in fact doing themselves.

The Republicans wisely kept their powder dry until momentum built and released the list of offending Democrats dramatically turning the tables. After this moronic mistake, I wonder if Nancy "Egg on my face" Pelosi will be able to keep her position as Minority Leader in the house.
