PETA Hypocracy

« The Rise of Senator McConnell | Main | Quote of the Week »
It looks like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has a bit of a dirty secret. It appears they kill the animals they take in to shelter.
From July 1998 through the end of 2003, PETA killed over 10,000 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals" -- at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. That's more than five defenseless animals every day. Not counting the dogs and cats PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 85 percent of the animals it took in during 2003 alone. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.

Other local adoption shelters in the same area of Virginia have adoption rates well over 65%. PETA's numbers are not even in the same ballpark. I guess PETA is a lethal killing machine.

It appears that much of this news is coming to light as theresults of a Virginia investigation into the cruelty of animals.

It appears that two members of PETA, Andrew Benjamin Cook, 24, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, of Norfolk, Va., were indicted with 31 felony counts of animal cruelty and eight misdemeanor counts of illegal disposal of dead animals after being caught dumping dead docs and cats in a shopping center garbage bin.

What is most disturbing about this macabre practice is that local officials and veterinarians were not even aware that they we going to be euthanized.

Local officials and veterinarians said they were told that PETA would find homes for the animals, not euthanize them.

PETA is know for their vicious campaigns condemning restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists and hunters for their "unethical" treatment of animals. David Martosko, director for the Center for Consumer Freedom best sums up the blatant contradiction to PETA's mission and radical actions.

PETA accepts animal lovers' donations with one hand while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens with the other. That's not ethical, it's hypocritical

Hmmm, Maybe the members of PETA are just better people than the rest of us. Personally, I can't wait until they protest another Kentucky Fried Chicken here in Louisville. I'll have to make up a sign that says PETA: Have you killed your pet today? That was just off the top of my head. I'll have to come up with some other nifty slogans for the occasion.
