Belafonte Calls Bush 'Greatest Terrorist'

This weekend at a rally in Caracas Venezuela, Harry Belafonte called President Bush the worlds greatest terrorist.

"No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people ... support your revolution

What I find ironically disturbing about Belafonte's remarks are where they took place. At a rally in support of the socialist revolution lead by Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez. For those who don't know, Chavez is the latest socialist dictatorial thug in South America who seized control of power after winning a democratic election. Of course the country has not had another fair election since his ascendancy and many of his political opposition has been murdered or jailed. But those are small details in the march to socialism.

How the wacky left can support thugs like Chavez is beyond my comprehension.

GOP Make Selection for 37th Senate Seat

In a bit of a surprise move, the party selected Deborah Peden to be its nominee for the vacated 37th Senate seat. Peden, 33, the wife of Metro Councilman James Peden is a former high school teacher in the Jefferson County school system.

The move was a bit of a surprise since the party selected a political novice over Metro Councilman Doug Hawkins who had show interest in the position. But it appears that Hawkins previous run-ins with the local party proved his downfall.

Hawkins said he thought he lost the nomination because of differences he has had with the executive committee. He sued the party in 2004 over the selection of convention delegates, and he accused party officials of misappropriating money.

He apologized to the committee for those actions before the vote took place.

Sharon Woodring, an executive committee member, said she never would have voted for Hawkins.

Woodring said she was glad he apologized, but said it was too little, too late.

In an earlier interview, Woodring had said that Hawkins "said things about Republicans that I wouldn't say about Democrats."

My only concern is that the local party let petty personal politics override the search for the best candidate to win the special election seat that was stolen by the courts. I hope my fears prove unfounded. Only time will tell.

Terrorists Really Want to Kill Us

If you don't think that the terrorists in al Qaeda really want to kill us, then you need to check out this article in the Sunday Mirror.

AL-QAEDA is recruiting suicide bombers who are infected with the AIDS virus, according to documents revealed to the Sunday Mirror.

Terror chiefs are also targeting fanatics who suffer other lethal blood diseases such as hepatitis and dengue fever in order to increase their "kill rate" from an explosion. The chilling new threat is revealed in papers distributed to British military camps in Iraq and across Europe.

...

Experts have found that bones and other blood-spattered fragments from a suicide bomber could penetrate the skin of a victim 50 meters away and infect them.

Only a group totally bent on our total destruction would devise such twisted and sick method of killing. This is nothing less than al Qaeda's first attempts at a biological weapon. The disturbing nature of the story only emphasis our need to take this war seriously. It is obvious that the other side is playing for keeps. We should too.
