Sam Alito Hearings Are Over
The hearings are finally over, and it appears that Alito will be confirmed to fill the vacant seat left by Justice O'Connor on the Supreme Court.
During the hearing, the Democrats came at Alito with such ferosity and repulsivness that Judge Alito's wife left in tears. But at the end of the day, Alito is just an excellent jurist who happens to be a conservative. The sorry display by the Democrats was not enough to falter the nomination process. Judge Alito will sail through the Senate vote. I am sure the results will be close. Maybe even on a purely partisan lines. But with 55 Republican senators there will be no stopping the process.
What I find fun is the complete and utter meltdown that is currently underway on the left. Take a look at the comments from posts for Jan 12 at sites like the DailyKos. There is so much hatred and venom in these posts that you begin to see the true Liberal spirit. Rember these quotes whenever you hear the left talk about the mean spirited Republicans.
