Pollution Levels Lowered Dramatically in Louisville Area

I remember a couple of years ago when the environmentalists were up in arms when the state ended VET testing in Jefferson County. What was VET testing? VET stood for Vehicle Emission Testing and it was a nightmare. I remember the long lines waiting to be tested. I also remember being required to have exact change for the test. And after all of the hassle, I find my car barely registers on their machines. Back then it was obviously a waste of not only money, but time. But the environmentalists claimed that pollution would get worse if we stopped it! Fortunately, reason took over and the testing was stopped. But, Jefferson County was doomed!

Well guess what. Yesterday it was reported that Louisville for the last three years have met the national standard for ground level ozone which is known as smog. Levels are 90% lower today than they were in the late 90's. How can this be? The ending of vehicle emission testing was going to cause pollution to to run amok!

Surprise, surprise. It didn't happen. It turns out that Cinergy's and LG&E's power plant cuts in emissions along with mild summers have drastically reduced the amount of pollution in the area. But hey we can't let facts and logicget in the way of the good emotion based agenda driven by environmentalists!
