Corruption in Washington DC

The Abramoff scandal has lead to a new round of plans for ethics reforms. First, the GOP offered a plan to provide ethics reform. Then the Democrats came out blasting the GOP before offering an almost identical plan for tightening ethical behavior in Congress.

The problem is that both plans are like using a band aid to stop the bleeding from an amputated leg. The problem with Washington is not the people serving, but the amount of money and power those people wield. As long as they are in control of billions and billions of dollars there will be lobbyists that will find loop holes in the laws.

The only real solution is to dramatically reduce the power and money that these politicians in DC have to spend. Only then will these ethical problems recede.

The place I would start is with the elimination of the EPA.

Today at an EPA-sponsored symposium centered around the agency's 35th anniversary.

All the former administrators and the EPA's current chief, Stephen Johnson, raised their hands when asked whether they believe global warming is a real problem -- and again when asked if humans bear significant blame.

If the heads of the EPA believe the psycho babble that humans are to blame for global warming then they and their department needs to go! Because they are obviously going to waste tax payers money on stupid initiatives the have little or no environmental impact but will greatly harm our economy.

See it would be easy to eliminate the source of corruption for politicians and allow me to keep more of my money. From there we could eliminate the Department of Education and...
