Ken Lucas to Run in the 4th Congressional District
« Why Computer Polls are Better Than Human Polls | Main | Louisville to End Derby Cruising. »It is a sign of pure desperation that the Democratic party is cheering Ken Lucas's challenge of Republican Representative Geoff Davis for Kentucky's 4th district. How pathetic is it that the Democrat's best candidate is a 72 year old conservative Democrat. Don't they have any new blood that represents their core beliefs?
Even the moon bats over at DailyKOS are cheering Lucas's decision to run. This is amazing considering how much the leftist's hate conservatives. Think about who these people are supporting as there only hope to regain power lost.
In 2000, Lucas skipped the Democratic National Convention rather than vote for the nomination of Al Gore, with whom he differed on abortion, tobacco and gun control.
Lucas is Pro-Life, Pro-Tobacco, and Pro-Gun. Are there any stances more repugnant to a liberal?
Much has changed since Ken Lucas squeaked out a victory against the unknown Republican challenger. This time Rep Davis is the incumbent and Lucas's party has tilted even further to the left.
| 2002 Election Results in the 4th | ||
| Ken Lucas | 87,634 | 51% |
| Geoff Davis | 81,556 | 48% |
Geoff Davis as a little known challenger only lost last time by 6,000 votes. Now, he is the incumbent with much greater name recognition. He even has an easier sales pitch. It will be trivial to saddle Mr. Lucas with the liberal baggage of his own party. I can see the ads now. A vote for Ken Lucas is a vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. If you don't think so check out the comments from Daily KOS.
Ken Lucas is a vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House and one of the sixteen seats required to gain a majority - which would mean committee chairs and power. Sure he isn't the most progressive Democrat, but he is certainly left of Geoff Davis. As a voter in the 4th district, I would take Lucas over Davis any day.
If both candidates are conservative, why would you vote for the candidate whose a member of the party which has a kook fringe liberal base? I am betting on election night that this race will not be close.
