Two Schoolkids Running for Senate
While the GOP candidates were having a battle over what to do with the detainees at Gitmo, the Democrats were having their own squabble. Instead of fighting over relevant current events, they have decided to have a pissing contest over their business investments. First up Mongiardo.
It is obvious that the Democratic primary has turned very personal. I can only imagine that this battle will continue to degrade in the coming months leading up to election day. All I can say is keep passing the popcorn.
Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo accused fellow Democrat Jack Conway, Kentucky's attorney general, of investing nearly all of his personal wealth in a Texas energy company that “wants to do away with coal, who says that coal can be replaced.” Mongiardo questioned the size of Conway's investment, as well as his decision to put money in a company that goes “against the interest of the people of the state of Kentucky.”Of course Conway, a tough son of a bitch, couldn't let that go without fighting back.
Conway countered that Mongiardo is an investor in Oneok Partners, a Tulsa, Okla., company that processes, stores and transports natural gas. Mongiardo's Senate financial disclosure report lists assets in Oneok of between $15,000 and $50,000.Conway's campaign argues that Oneok's position on coal is similar to Kinder Morgan's. The Oneok Web site says that natural gas burns cleaner than coal and other fossil fuels and is more efficient than electricity. Are you kidding me? Are these guys 2 years old? They are arguing over what they have invested their money in and whether or not the investment was good for Kentucky. These guys really need to slapping at each other like little girls and start discussing the issues of the day. You know the stuff they will have to concern themselves with if they, God forbid, win the election.
